Seti Karnali Fishing Expedition
1. Golden Mahseer (Tor putitora) Known as the “king of Himalayan rivers.” Found in Karnali, Babai, Bheri, Koshi, and other major rivers. Popular for sport fishing. 2. Copper Mahseer / Katle (Neolissochilus hexagonolepis) Common in mid-hills and mountain rivers. Highly valued for its taste. 3. Sahar (Tor tor) A close relative of Golden Mahseer. Found mainly in western Nepal rivers, including Karnali. 4. Asla / Snow Trout (Schizothorax spp.) Cold-water species. Found in mountain streams and rivers such as the Trishuli, Kali Gandaki, and Seti. 5. Magur (Clarias batrachus) Air-breathing catfish. Common in ponds, lakes, and slow-moving rivers. 6. Singhi / Walking Catfish (Heteropneustes fossilis) Freshwater catfish species with mild venomous spines. Found in Terai wetlands and slow rivers. 7. Bam / Freshwater Eel (Anguilla bengalensis) Found in hill streams and lowland rivers. Known for its elongated body and ability to migrate long distances.
