Expedition Cruise Vlissingen-Spitsbergen - Seabirds, dolphins and whales

Simply take the train to Zeeland and then board a ship that takes you to Spitsbergen? It's possible! This magnificent cruise departs from Vlissingen or Hansweert (Zeeland) and takes you along the coast of England and Scotland, via the rarely visited Fair Isle and Jan Mayen, to Spitsbergen, which lies well within the Arctic Circle. Along the way, we'll see many seabirds such as gannets, puffins, razorbills, and guillemots, but we also have a chance of spotting marine mammals such as minke whales, fin whales, and more! Closer to the pack ice (and thus to Spitsbergen), we'll search for perhaps the most important target of this trip: the polar bear. We'll also be in the area where we might encounter the rare ivory gull.

Guided Group Tour 2026: Discover Spitsbergen aboard Ocean Albatros

This summer, experience the Far North, far above the Arctic Circle, where ice and silence reign, aboard the Ocean Albatros. This modern, ice-class expedition ship takes you deep into the Arctic, as far as the ice allows. Along the way, you'll be surrounded by rugged landscapes, glaciers, and an incredible wealth of wildlife: whales, walruses, polar bears, and millions of seabirds. With a maximum of 186 passengers, we sail sustainably through national parks and nature reserves. Zodiac cruises past glaciers, walks on remote beaches, and landings in pristine locations complete the adventure. From the rugged northwest to the tranquil east and the impressive south of Spitsbergen – every day offers a new, magnificent natural spectacle.
